A thousand mile journey begins with a single step – Confucius

How can asking for a small thing go a long way? Asking for a coffee gets you on a roller coaster ride? Asking for a penny gets you a thousand dollar donation? Before we apply the technique to the dating game, we have to understand how it works, yeah?
Understanding the technique.
This technique has been used by many donation companies worldwide, along with many companies that require to meet up with their clients before pitching their offers. It’s all about asking for something small first, then from their, build your way up. Donation companies have realized that from simply changing their phrase from, ‘would you like to donate some money’ to ‘would you like to donate some money, even a penny would help’ has helped increase their donations by double the amount. Business companies that required to attempt to schedule an appointment with their prospects also used this tactic to much success when they changed their request from, ‘we could meet up with you to show you our products’ to ‘we could meet up with you to show you our products, just an hour of your time would really help’. This also resulted in an almost double in the success they got in making appointments with their prospects.
This technique works like the ‘foot in the door’ method, where you make it really easy for the people, as harmless as it could possibly look, to set up an appointment or donate a penny to you, and once that is done, it opens the door to your perfectly planned follow up speech.
Thus, now that we know how this tactic understood, how would you use this technique for the dating game?
Well, one of the only methods i can think of is simply to get them to agree to go for a simple outing with you, it doesn’t have to include the word “date”, it could be simply a sentence like, “Shall we meet up? Even just coffee / lunch would do.” A very crucial word in this sentence would be the word “just” as it signifies a very minimal seemingly harmless (and it should be) commitment. This can be used from attempting to get a date to practically anything else, business purposes too if you might.
There are countless number of ways this tactic can work, and if you have any ideas on how to improve it and if you slightly disagree with it, i urge you to leave a comment, even a short anonymous comment would go a long way to helping me improve this article. (:
Yours sincerely,
Desmond L.
